Clayton

Clayton is a small town on the Kent and New Castle county line, just west of Smyrna. It began as a railroad junction in the 1800s, and the rail line still runs through town. The town is compact, with older homes near the center and newer subdivisions built around it over the last 20 years, many of them single-family homes on mid-size lots.

Blackbird State Forest lies a few miles northwest, with walking and riding trails, and Lake Como and downtown Smyrna are a couple of minutes east. US-13 and Route 1 are both close, which puts Dover about 20 minutes south and Middletown about 15 minutes north.
